The Reaping

Giveaway terms and conditions

These terms govern The Reaping, a weekly game of chance run by THGAustralia. By entering, you accept them. If you don't, don't enter — nothing else about the site changes either way.

1. The promoter

The promoter is THGAustralia ([ABN — insert or delete this clause]), contactable at [email protected]. THGAustralia is an independent fansite. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by Lionsgate, Roadshow Films, Scholastic, Suzanne Collins or any of their related bodies. No prize in this promotion is supplied by any of them unless a specific week's entry post says so.

2. Who can enter

Entry is open worldwide to natural persons aged 15 years or over at the time of entry, excluding residents of, and entries originating from: Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and the Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine; any country or territory to which Australia Post has suspended or does not offer international parcel services at the time of the draw; any country subject to comprehensive Australian or United Nations sanctions; and any jurisdiction where this promotion would be unlawful or would require a licence, permit or registration the promoter does not hold.

Entrants under 18 must have the permission of a parent or guardian, and where a winner is under 18 the prize is awarded to their parent or guardian on their behalf. Anyone who writes for or works on THGAustralia, and their immediate families, cannot enter.

3. When it runs

The Reaping runs in rounds. Round one opens on Sunday 9 August 2026 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Thursday 13 August 2026, with the draw on Friday 14 August. Later rounds run until Sunrise on the Reaping opens in Australian cinemas on 19 November 2026, with each round's dates published in that round's giveaway post before it opens.

4. How to enter

Each round's giveaway post names the platform and entry steps. For round one, entry is on Instagram: (a) follow @hungergamesau; (b) comment a District number (1–13) on the official giveaway post; (c) tag one friend in a comment; and (d) share the giveaway post to your Instagram Story tagging @hungergamesau. Where an entrant's account is private, the share may instead be verified by sending a screenshot of it to us by direct message. A drawn entry without a verifiable share under (d) is invalid and will be redrawn.

Entry is free and no purchase is necessary. Commenting or tagging multiple times does not create additional entries — each person has one entry per round. Entries that are automated, made from fake or duplicate accounts, or submitted by anyone acting as an entry service are invalid. Entering one round does not enter you in later rounds — each round needs its own entry.

5. The prizes

Each round has one prize. The prize for a round, its retail value and any conditions attached to it are published in that round's giveaway post before the round opens. The total value of all prizes across the whole series will not exceed $3,000 AUD.

Round one has one winner, who receives both prizes: The Hunger Games Luxury Edition boxset (complete trilogy, Australian editions, foil-sprayed page edges, slipcase) and The World of the Hunger Games Prop Replica Deluxe Pin Set. The promoter pays all postage; customs duties or import taxes levied in the winner's country are the winner's responsibility.

Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. If a prize becomes unavailable for a reason outside the promoter's control, the promoter may substitute a prize of equal or greater retail value. Where a prize is a cinema ticket or voucher, it is subject to the issuing cinema's own terms, session availability and the film's Australian classification — including any age restriction, which the promoter cannot waive.

6. How winners are drawn

Each round is a game of chance. Skill plays no part. All valid entries for the round go into a single pool and one entry is drawn at random using a random number generator on the business day following the close of the round, in Melbourne, Victoria. The draw is conducted by the promoter, and the winning entry and winner's identity are recorded.

7. Telling the winner

The winner is notified by direct message from the promoter's official account on the platform they entered, within two business days of the draw. The winner's first name (or username) and country are published on this page and in that round's giveaway post within seven days of the draw. If you'd rather not be named, tell us when you claim and we'll publish an initial instead. We will never ask a winner for payment, card details, or to click a claim link — any account doing so is an impersonator.

A winner has 7 days from the date of the notification message to reply and claim with a valid postal address. If they don't, or their entry lacks a verifiable share under clause 4, or their address is in an excluded country under clause 2, the prize is forfeited and redrawn from the remaining valid entries on the next business day, with the redraw winner notified and published on the same terms.

8. Your details

We collect only what's needed to run the draw and deliver prizes: your public platform username, your entry, and — if you win — a postal address, which is used solely for despatch and deleted afterwards. We don't sell, rent or hand your details to anyone else. Ask us at [email protected] and we'll tell you what we hold on you or delete it.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook or Meta Platforms, Inc., or with X Corp. By entering, entrants release those platforms from all liability in connection with it.

9. The rest

The promoter may disqualify any entrant it reasonably believes has tampered with the entry process, entered fraudulently, or acted in a way that is unfair to other entrants. The promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed or not received for reasons outside its control.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. To the extent the law allows, the promoter is not liable for any loss arising from this promotion or from taking a prize.

If the promotion cannot run as planned for reasons outside the promoter's control, the promoter may cancel or change it, subject to any direction from a relevant regulator. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria.

Permits

The total prize pool of this series is under $3,000, so no trade promotion permit is required in any Australian state or territory. If a single round's prize or the series total ever exceeds that, this page must be updated and the relevant permits obtained before the round is advertised.
