The Reaping

Giveaway terms and conditions

These terms govern The Reaping — Giveaway No. 1, a game of chance run by THGAustralia. By entering, you accept them. If you don't, don't enter. Nothing else about the site changes either way.

1. The promoter

The promoter is THGAustralia, contactable at [email protected]. THGAustralia is an independent fansite. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by Lionsgate, Roadshow Films, Scholastic, Assouline, Suzanne Collins or any of their related bodies. The prize is the promoter's own property. It has not been supplied, sponsored or endorsed by any of them, and none of them has any involvement in this promotion.

2. Who can enter

Entry is open worldwide to natural persons holding an Instagram account in their own name, excluding residents of, and entries originating from: Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and the Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine; any country or territory to which Australia Post has suspended or does not offer international parcel services at the time of the draw; any country subject to comprehensive Australian or United Nations sanctions; and any jurisdiction where this promotion would be unlawful or would require a licence, permit or registration the promoter does not hold.

The prize is a nine-kilogram hand-bound volume measuring 39 × 47 × 7 cm. A winner who cannot supply a delivery address that Australia Post will carry a parcel of that size and weight to, at the time of the draw, cannot be awarded the prize.

Entrants must meet the minimum age required to hold an account on Instagram. Entrants under 18 require a parent or guardian's permission to enter, and where a winner is under 18 the prize is awarded to that parent or guardian on the winner's behalf. Anyone who writes for or works on THGAustralia, and their immediate families, cannot enter.

3. When it runs

The promotion opens on Tuesday 11 August 2026 and closes at 5pm AEST on Friday 11 September 2026. The draw takes place within seven days of the close, in Melbourne, Victoria. Entries received after the closing time are invalid, whatever the reason for the delay.

4. How to enter

Entry is on Instagram and is free. No purchase is necessary. To enter: (a) follow @hungergamesau; (b) tag the person you'd volunteer for in a comment on the official giveaway post; and (c) share the giveaway reel back to @hungergamesau using the send arrow, so that the share is visible to the promoter. All three steps must be complete at the time of the draw, and no entry made by any other route will be counted.

A drawn entry whose share under (c) is not visible to the promoter is invalid and will be redrawn.

Multiple entries. Each separate comment tagging a different person counts as a separate entry, and there is no limit on the number of entries one person may make this way. Tagging several people within a single comment counts once. Repeating the same tag, tagging accounts that do not exist, and comments that do not tag anyone do not create entries.

Bonus entry. Anyone who joins the THGAustralia mailing list during the entry period and supplies their Instagram handle on the subscription form receives one additional entry. The handle supplied must match the account used to enter. If no handle is supplied, or it doesn't match a valid entry, the subscription still stands but the bonus entry cannot be awarded. Joining the mailing list without completing steps (a) to (c) does not enter you.

Entries that are automated, made from fake or duplicate accounts, or submitted by anyone acting as an entry service are invalid, as is every entry made by that account.

5. The prize

There is one prize and one winner: a single copy of Tim Palen: Photographs from The Hunger Games (Ultimate Edition, Assouline, 2015) — a leather-bound volume signed by the photographer, limited to 350 copies worldwide, supplied in its clamshell case with the accompanying signed archival print of the cover image. The copy is the promoter's own and is supplied in used but unread collector's condition.

The promoter pays the postage, wherever the winner is, and will send the prize with tracking and transit insurance. Any customs duty, import tax, handling fee or other charge levied in the winner's own country is the winner's responsibility, and the promoter will not pay or reimburse it. The prize is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. If the prize becomes unavailable for a reason outside the promoter's control, the promoter may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

6. How the winner is drawn

This promotion is a game of chance. Skill plays no part. All valid entries go into a single pool and one entry is drawn at random using a random number generator, in Melbourne, Victoria, within seven days of the close. The draw is conducted by the promoter, and the winning entry and the winner's identity are recorded.

7. Telling the winner

The winner is notified by direct message from @hungergamesau on Instagram within two business days of the draw, and is announced on this page and on the promoter's channels within seven days of the draw. The announcement gives the winner's Instagram username and country. If you'd rather not be named, tell us when you claim and we'll publish an initial instead.

We contact winners from @hungergamesau and from no other account. We will never ask a winner for payment, card details, or to click a link in order to claim. Any account doing so is an impersonator; please report it and tell us.

Winners are asked to accept within 48 hours of the notification message. Instagram files messages from accounts you don't follow under Requests, so check there. If a winner has not responded within 48 hours, the promoter may forfeit the prize and redraw it from the remaining valid entries — the promoter will use its discretion where a winner has plainly not yet seen the message, and is not obliged to redraw the moment 48 hours elapse. The prize is also forfeited and redrawn if the entry lacks a verifiable share under clause 4, or the winner is found not to meet clause 2, or no deliverable address can be supplied. A redraw winner is notified and announced on the same terms.

8. Your details

We collect only what's needed to run the draw and deliver the prize: your public Instagram username and your comment; your email address and Instagram handle if you take the bonus entry; and, if you win, a postal address and contact number, used solely for despatch and deleted once the prize has arrived. We don't sell, rent or hand your details to anyone else.

Mailing list subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe, and every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing after the draw does not affect an entry already made. Ask us at [email protected] and we'll tell you what we hold on you, correct it, or delete it.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook or Meta Platforms, Inc. By entering, entrants release those platforms from all liability in connection with it.

9. The rest

The promoter may disqualify any entrant it reasonably believes has tampered with the entry process, entered fraudulently, or acted in a way that is unfair to other entrants. The promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed or not received for reasons outside its control, including anything Instagram does to the visibility of comments.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. To the extent the law allows, the promoter is not liable for any loss arising from this promotion or from taking the prize.

If the promotion cannot run as planned for reasons outside the promoter's control, the promoter may cancel or change it, subject to any direction from a relevant regulator. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria.

Permits

The value of the prize in this promotion is below $3,000 AUD, which is the lowest trade promotion threshold in Australia (the Australian Capital Territory's). No trade promotion permit is therefore required in any Australian state or territory. Any future giveaway with a prize above that figure needs the relevant permits obtained before it is advertised, not before the draw, and these terms must be rewritten for it.
